I've been meaning to post this for some time now. Maurice, and its chef and owner, Kristen Murray, are gems here in Portland. I adore them in ways that make me want to hug this little "pastry luncheonette" as much as I do Kristen whenever I see her. Take a peek inside and you'll find this tiny space somehow warmed and cozy with white-washed walls, painted white furniture and fixtures. Recently named Bon Appetit Magazine's one of the best 10 restaurants in the country, Maurice is a must whether you're in the mood for a cup of green tea poured into a funky teacup with a current and rosemary creme scone or a glass of rose´ with polenta clafouti with confit chicken heart and oysters on the 1/2 shell.
I made some photos of Maurice this summer for Portland Monthly Magazine to accompany a dine review written by Portland word maven Karen Brooks. I've also included a few of my favorite outtakes from the shoot. Look for it online or in the September issue.
